Scholarship Program

The Scholarship Programme of the German School Nairobi was established in 2008 with the goal of giving talented students from Kenya access to a high-quality education and the opportunity to pursue further studies in Germany.

Our programme offers:

  • Access to an excellent international education leading to the German International Abitur (DIA) – a globally recognised qualification accepted by universities in Germany, Europe, the USA, and Kenya.
  • Support for students who demonstrate strong academic potential, motivation, and commitment.

Each year, the number of scholarships depends on the quality of applications and the available school budget.

Requirements

Students aged 9–10 years, currently in Class 4 (or equivalent in the British system) are eligible to apply. Applications from students aged 10–11 years may also be considered.

Scholarships cover 75% of tuition fees, including lunch, but exclude transport costs. Annual tuition adjustments (5–7%) also apply to scholarship holders.

Application Process

Application period: September 1 – September 28, 2025
Submit your complete application (form + required documents) as one PDF file to: scholarship@germanschool.co.ke

Alternatively, printed copies may be delivered to:

P.O. Box 978, 00621 Nairobi

Incomplete applications cannot be processed.

Selection Process

All complete applications are reviewed by the Scholarship Committee. Shortlisted candidates are invited for interviews and tests in October/November. Final decisions are communicated shortly thereafter. The committee’s decisions are final and binding.

Language Development and Integration

Selected students begin with a six-month intensive German course (approx. 20 hours per week), alongside classes in Mathematics, Physical Education, and Art. By August, they join the regular Grade 5 class. For the following three years, they continue to receive additional German language support to reach native-level proficiency.

Scholarship Continuation

Scholarship holders must maintain academic progress and commitment in accordance with the school’s Conditions for Scholarship Holders.
