Live democracy! Student council elections 2025/26 at the DSN
Heute stand an der Deutschen Schule Nairobi Demokratie ganz praktisch auf dem Stundenplan: Unsere Schüler*innen der Klassen 5–12 haben ihre neue Schülervertretung (SV) gewählt.
17 engagierte Kandidat*innen präsentierten ihre Ideen – von Cafeteria-Themen und Lost & Found über digitale Fragen bis hin zum Wunsch nach mehr Mitsprache in schulischen Entscheidungen.
Schulleiter Jörg Isenbeck eröffnete die Wahl mit dem Hinweis, dass wir an der DSN Demokratie nicht nur lehren, sondern auch leben.
Die SV besteht aus fünf gewählten Schüle*innen und übernimmt eine wichtige Rolle im Schulleben: Sie bringt Anliegen ein, vertritt die Interessen der Mitschülerinnen und gestaltet die Schule aktiv mit.
Die Ergebnisse werden am Montag bekanntgegeben – doch schon jetzt zeigt sich: Your Voice Matters!
Scholarship program 2026 – Applications now being accepted
The German School Nairobi is once again offering children the chance to join our Scholarship Program. Since 2008, the program has enabled talented and motivated young students from Kenya to pursue an outstanding education leading to the German Abitur.
For the 2026 intake, we are inviting applications from children aged 9–10 who are eager to learn, grow, and become part of our diverse school community.
- Application period: September 1–28, 2025
- Preparation: German Intensive Course, January–July 2026
- Next step: Direct entry into Class 5 with continued support in German language learning

St. Martin's Day at the German School Nairobi
There was a lot going on on St. Martin's Day. As always, the fourth grade put on a great performance. The kindergarten was very interesting. The children in the audience grabbed their parents' cell phones and filmed the fourth grade. Most of them sang along to the song “Lichterkinder” (Children of Light). The children were even allowed to sit on their parents' shoulders. They all had such beautiful lanterns with them.
Die vierte Klasse hat zu Beginn einen Willkommenstanz aufgeführt, anschließend ein Theaterstück aufgeführt und zum Abschluss das Lied Lichterkinder gesungen. Nach der Vorstellung sind wir mit den Laternen um den Sportplatz gelaufen.
Anschließend gab es für alle Martinskekse. Zum Schluss konnten wir einfach spielen, bis wir nach Hause mussten. Es war eine tolle Party.
