Our School

Since 1969, the German School Nairobi has been more than a German international school. It is a place of excellent education, a welcoming space to feel at home, a meeting point for the German speaking community, and a living bridge to our host country, Kenya.

More than 50 years ago, our school was founded on the outskirts of Nairobi, surrounded by coffee fields. Today, the German School Nairobi is a green oasis in the heart of Kenya’s vibrant capital, close to the United Nations and numerous embassies.

We combine the village like charm of our spacious and inspiring campus, with its mostly single storey buildings, with open minded, modern education based on German standards and recognised high quality. This was once again confirmed during our most recent school inspection in 2024.

Our school community brings together students from over 50 nations, each with different educational backgrounds. In an open and family like atmosphere, they are prepared for the world of tomorrow, guided by democratic and participatory values.

For many students, the school day does not end with the final lesson. We see ourselves as a community school with an open full day programme and a continually evolving range of co curricular and leisure activities. Because one thing we all agree on - a good school is more than just lessons. Karibu sana!
