Partnerships

Since 2014, the German School Nairobi has partnered with the Star Kid School in Githogoro, near Runda.
What began as a science workshop has grown into a vibrant exchange built on curiosity, learning, and friendship.

Several times a year, students from both schools come together to experiment at the Candlelight Science Workshop and on other occasions to read, bake, or play sports together.
Star Kid students also join DSN events such as Sports Day (Bundesjugendspiele), and learn to swim at the DSN pool.

These encounters create shared experiences and strengthen understanding across different backgrounds and communities.

Our partnership with KESA and Elevate Sports combines athletic commitment with social responsibility. The goal is to give children and young people from different backgrounds access to professional training, mentoring, and competition experience.

The joint program includes KESA Football, Nyota Basketball, and the Pilot Swim Program. More than 160 DSN students train regularly, while over 300 children outside the school benefit from the outreach activities. The collaboration also helps train and empower local coaches and promotes sustainable sports development beyond the DSN campus.

Each year, we organize food drives and donation campaigns, such as our Erntedank collection for the Star Kid community, and support local families in times of crisis.

In 2024, a parent-led initiative at DSN mobilized overwhelming support for families affected by the floods in Mathare Valley. Together with the Mathare Social Justice Center, the funds helped rebuild classrooms and improve learning conditions at a local school.

These projects reflect our shared values of responsibility, empathy, and connectedness and show what our community can achieve when we act together.
